The ceremony of completion of the EU funded Serbia Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer project was held today at the Science Technology Park “Belgrade”.
A new catalyst, device for keeping wine fresh and multifunctional colour-catching balls are just some of the inventions of scientific and research organizations supported by the Innovation Fund, with the financing from the European Union. Through the Technology Transfer Facility, the Fund has succeeded in fostering cooperation between the academic and the private sector, with the aim of placing the results of scientific research on the market.
The project was implemented by The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Innovation Fund, Delegation of the European Union in Serbia and the World Bank, with a vision of boosting collaboration between public research and development sector and the private sector in order to commercialize scientific research and promote technology transfer.
The implementation of the Project was financed by 2.5 million EUR from the EU Pre-Accession Fund (IPA) for 2013.
During the ceremony, organised by Innovation Fund, the attendees were addressed by Mr. Mladen Šarćević, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Mr. Sephen Ndegwa, World Bank Country Manager for Serbia, H.E. Mr. Sem Fabrizi, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, and Mr. Ivan Rakonjac, Director of the Innovation Fund.
The panel of the event, entitled “Applied scientific research, innovation and their financing in Serbia”, focused on the application of scientific research, technology transfer and their financing in Serbia. Maja Andjelković, PhD, Senior Private Sector Specialist, World Bank, was the Panel moderator and the speakers were: Professor Vladimir Popović, PhD, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development; Dejan Šuvakov, Programme Manager at the EU Delegation to Serbia, Mladjan Stojanović, Technology Transfer Coordinator, Innovation Fund, Zorica Branković, PhD, Research Professor, Institute for Multidisciplinary Research, Bojan Pavlović, Chief Executive Officer, PhytoNet.
