Fight against discrimination is a EU priority and it is good that the government of Serbia now has its own strategy to cope with this, said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport, who joined Serbian officials attending the action “I have a hart, I do not hate,” organised to mark beginning of the European week against racism and discrimination.
“It is now up to the government but also up to the citizens to show that they do not want hate speech in Serbia,”Davenport said.
“It is very important that we all say no to hate speech everywhere and in every country, not only here but throughout Europe. I joined today this very good action because fight against discrimination and hate speech is a high priority for the EU. The EU works with the government of Serbia on this,” Davenport said.
Serbia for the first time joined manifestations that will be held throughout Europe till March 28 under auspices of Council of Europe’s Campaign against hate speech.
