This was a successful weekend for films supported by the Creative Europe – MEDIA programme. Timbuktu got seven Cesar awards in France, notably for best film, and Ida won the Oscar award for best foreign film in the United States.

The two films received respectively EUR 540,000 and EUR 650,000 from the Creative Europe – MEDIA programme for their development and distribution.

Vice-President Ansip, in charge of the Digital Single Market, and Commissioner Oettinger, responsible for the Digital Economy and Society, said: “These prestigious awards show the talent of our film makers and how EU support can help them thrive and reach a large audience. We are committed to further supporting creative industries and creating the right conditions for them to succeed in the digital era“.
