EU overall assistance to the countries in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan) for 2014-2020 is over EUR1 billion.
Regional assistance for all five countries is EUR360 million aimed at more developmental opportunities, better security across Central Asia, more efficient national administrations and more student exchange with the EU.
For better living conditions in rural areas in Uzbekistan, the EU allocated EUR168 million, whereas EUR37 million of assistance is aimed at Turkmenistan’s improved education and training for more people in the period 2014-2017.
To strengthen rule of law, better education for more people, better living conditions in rural areas and economic stabilisation in Kyrgyzstan, the EU is donating EUR214 million, while EUR251 million is allocated for better education for more people, better health care services and better living conditions in rural areas in Tajikistan.
