This year, European Delegation to the Republic of Serbia and EU Info Centre have decided to organise the central Europe Day event in Obrenovac, the city hit by 2014 catastrophic floods whose reconstruction was substantially supported by the EU.

Following the first day of celebration, 8 May, Obrenovac saw the ceremonial opening of sports contest for elementary school pupils from educational institutions whose reconstruction was enabled by the EU. On the very Europe Day, 9 May, central manifestation took place on Zoran Djindjic Square.

Audience included Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport and President of the Municipality of Obrenovac Miroslav Cuckovic.

Citizens have had an opportunity to see a collage of choreographic miniatures performed by Ballet Studio “Idea”.
The show “Adventures of Joe the Tomcat”, designed especially for children and performed by “Pan teatar” from Belgrade followed, as well as a workshop for children. Also, the show “Bunny, Bunny” was performed by Acting School COTK TENT.

The shows were followed by a well-received flash mob and a concert by music academy students, organised by “Guitar Art Fest”.

Throughout the day, citizens could obtain information about the current process of Serbian European integration and EU policies at the EU Info Centre and Serbian European Integration Office stands.

Celebration of Europe Day ended with a rock concert, gathering a large number of, above others, young people, with performances from bands “Dzepovi” and “Incomplete” from Obrenovac and “Sevdah Baby Live” from Belgrade.
