In continuation of last week delivery of 700 sets of bed linen and 350 pillows, Reception Centre for refugees and migrants in Presevo was today delivered a total of 550 beds. Within assistance package worth nearly 240,000 euros, provided by the EU and Swiss Government through European PROGRES development programme, Reception Centre has already received ten metal grid containers, a water tank and 15 portable toilets.
Delivered items will support the Centre in its efforts to house the most vulnerable refugees and meet basic sanitary requirements. These needs were identified in cooperation with Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs and Commissariat for Refugees.
Through European PROGRES programme, and within the said assistance package, European Union and Swiss Government have secured assets for procurement of waste disposal trucks, thus allowing the local utility company, not only to maintain better hygiene at the Centre for refugees, but also to keep satisfactory level of hygiene in town.
Providing assistance through European PROGRES is just one tranche of aid deployed to Serbian Government by donors in order to respond successfully to challenges arising from refugee and migrant crisis.
