President Jean-Claude Juncker will deliver his first State of the Union speech to the European Parliament, focusing on the big challenges Europe is facing and speaking about the progress in implementing the Commission’s ten priorities. He will set out his political vision for the future of the EU that will guide the preparation of the Commission’s Work Programme for 2016 and beyond.

The State of the Union will kick-start consultations with the Parliament and the Council on the Commission work programme. It is an important element in the structured dialogue between the institutions.
