European Commissioner for Humanitarian Assistance and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides will visit Serbia on Friday, 15 January 2016.

Ahead of visit, Commissioner Stylianides said: “Serbia is the key partner in managing current refugee crisis in Europe. My visit is intended to show our European solidarity on the ground.  Due to severe winter conditions faced by numerous refugees along the Western Balkans route, it is now more than ever important to provide the most basic items such as temporary shelter, food, health care services, water, hygiene and protection for women and children.“

Commissioner Stylianides will meet with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin and Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Vladimir Cucic. Commissioner Stylianides will then tour the reception-transit centre Adasevci together with Minister Vulin and Commissioner Cucic, where he will open the expanded children day care centre, established by UNICEF and the EU. He will then also meet with representatives of EU partner institutions, engaged in supporting refugees and migrants.
