Film Palme, a Swedish documentary about the late Prime Minister Olof Palme, opened the European Film Festival in Sabac last night.

On behalf of the EU Delegation to Serbia the Festival was inaugurated by Richard Maša who pointed out the importance of institutions such as Sabac Cultural Centre in the promotion of culture and cultural events in the city.

A total of eight films will be screened at Cultural Centre in Sabac from 30 May-2 June two times a day – at 19:00 and 20:00. The Festival will continue in Sabac in September and October as well.

Serbian film “A stinking fairytale” and Danish drama “Above the street, below the water” closed the European Film Festival in Nis. The Festival attracted a great deal of interest among citizens of Nis in cinematography of the Old Continent.

“This year, the Festival programme in Nis was the richest and most ambitious since its foundation seven years ago. Even with three film screenings a day, the audience did not seem to lose interest,” said film programme editor of Cultural Centre in Nis Dejan Dabic.

Over the course of eight days, the Festival in Nis screened 18 films hailing from 17 EU Member States and Serbia. Apart from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Sabac, the Festival will also travel to Valjevo, Prijepolje, Prokuplje and Negotin. European Film Festival is organised by the EU Delegation to Serbia and EU Info Centre in cooperation with EU Member States’ embassies and their cultural centres.
