The European Week of Sport will be for the first time celebrated in Serbia, organised by the Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Ministry of youth and sport of the Republic of Serbia, with other partners and with the support of the European Union.

Under the slogan #BEACTIVE, the European Week of Sport will take place between 23 and 30 September accross Serbia

The #BEACTIVE goal is still to inspire Europeans to get moving and make everyone aware of the importance of phisical activity. Let`s create a #BEACTIVE mindset all across Europe! This will benefit not only people`s health and well-being, but also our society and economy in general!

Ahead of his visit to Belgrade on 27 September to participate in the “High Level Round Table on Healthy Lifestyle Beyond Borders”, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics said:

“Sport is fun and vital for your well-being. It also brings people from different cultures and backgrounds together which is key in breaking down barriers and building cohesive societies. The European Week of Sport highlights and promotes this unique potential of sport, encouraging people to #BeActive in the long term. I am very proud to welcome Serbia and other countries form the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership region to this initiative this year. I am confident that this will help forge stronger links between and within the participating countries. And I am looking forward to experiencing first-hand how Serbia celebrates sport during my visit on 27 September.”

         Sunday 23 September 12.00 – Cacak and Kraljevo: launch of the European Week of Sport with the Sport Challenge between Cacak (with Mihael Dudaš – Olympian in decathlon) and Kraljevo (with Vanja Stanković – World Champion in taekwondo) organised by the Olympic Committee of Serbia

         Tuesday 25 September 14.00 – Smederevo Fortress: School culture and sport competition organised by the Serbian School Sport Federation

         Wednesday 26 September 14.00 – Bac Fortess: School culture and sport competition organised by the Serbian School Sport Federation

         Wednesday 26. September 19.30 – Below Branko`s Bridge, New Belgrade, Night training with Belgrade Running Club, organized by Olympic Committee and Belgrade Running Club

         Thursday 27 September – Belgrade: European Week of Sport Beyond Borders Conference organised by the European Commission, including the High Level Round Table with participation of European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Tibor Navracsics

         Friday 28 September – Belgrade: Seminar on Erasmus+ (Education, Youth, Sport) for the Serbian Sport Movement, organised by the European Commission

         Friday 28 September 14.00 – Nis Fortress: School culture and sport competition organised by the Serbian School Sport Federation

         Saturday 29 September 11.00 – Belgrade: Sport Day in Ada Ciganlija organised by the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Serbia

         Saturday 29 September 17.00 – Vrnjacka Banja: Launch of the 11th Olympiad for Sport, Health and Culture– organised by Third Age Movement of the Republic of Serbia

EUROBAROMETER

The Eurobarometer gives you all the facts about (in)activity in Europe. It’s an EU-wide survey on sport and physical activity conducted by the European Commission, the latest survey published in March 2018 was carried out by TNS Political & Social network in the 28 EU Member States between 2 and 11 December 2017. Some 28,031 EU citizens from different social and demographic categories were interviewed face-to-face at home and in their native language, on behalf of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture.
