Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport closed the EU’s stand at International Book Fair and handed Letters of Appreciation to partners – European Integration Office of the Government of Serbia, National Library of Serbia, EUNIC, Tempus Office, and Belgrade Fair.

Davenport also presented Belgrade Fair representatives with an EU flag. He thanked partners, volunteers, staff of the EU Info Centre and visitors.

This year, EU’s stand was different than before. It was the heart of the creativity and looked fantastic, Davenport said.

Director of the EU Information Centre Davor Glavas said that for eight days they hung out with books, publishers, book enthusiasts, pupils, students, with everyone who found, or were still in search of, their place in Gutenberg’s galaxy.

Glavas said it was particularly interesting and important that “immense richness of written word” proved to be able to “coexist with the simple binary code of digital media.”

EU and its Information Centre have made appearance in the Book Fair for the third time, whereas this year the stand hosted a total of 28 events.

The stand hosted EU publications and books’ presentations, discussions with Serbian and publishers from across the region, as well as over 200 librarians from Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis.

Visitors picked up some 8.000 publications at the stand, whereas the areas of education, linguistics and studying in EU countries aroused most interest.
