On 16 April, EU Info Centre and Novi Pazar public library “Dositej Obradović” organised a forum titled “Serbia in European Union – Get to Know EU”, which featured the presentation of EU Delegation and Info Centre’s project of support to this library, as well as the history and the mission of the EU and publications dealing with these topics displayed at the library.

With the support of EU Info Centre, the library in Novi Pazar saw the opening of EU publications section in March. Cooperation envisions organisation of several fora in the library over the next year, which would feature presentations of EU policies and different aspect of European integration.

The first forum in the series, “Serbia in European Union – Get to Know EU”, Public Information Officer of the EU Info Centre Marina Rakic said that publications were aimed at both adults and younger population.

“These are the publications about policies and history of the EU, adapted to all ages and the goal of this particular forum is to explain EU Info Centre’s support in more detail, as well as explore the ways of bringing the citizens closer to the EU,” Rakic said.

Director of the library “Dositej Obradović” Elijas Rebronja said the forum was important not only for that institution but for the city as a whole. “We aim to bring everything that concerns the EU closer to citizens of Novi Pazar. Over the next year, we will organise six fora dedicated to EU values and everything we may encounter on that road”, added Rebronja.

Member of Team Europe Serbia Teo Taranis spoke about the history of the EU and Serbian process of EU accession. Guests were mainly interested to hear more about studying in EU Member States and support to youth associations in their activities.
