Meeting on 23 November, both EU education and youth ministers discussed how to improve the integration of migrants. The focus was in particular on the challenges raised by the increasing number of young migrants. Ministers agreed on the importance of several aspects, including:

  • improving language learning, in particular of the languages of the host country
  • promoting European values at all levels of education, to avoid intolerance, xenophobia and radicalisation
  • speeding up the assessment and validation of previous qualifications
  • making the best use of the Erasmus + programme

Youth ministers also adopted the work plan for youth for 2016-2018.
