High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini met with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Federica Mogherini congratulated PM Zaev on his recent election and successful formation of the new government, and exchanged views on the steps that country plans to undertake in the upcoming period.

Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met today with Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, who was accompanied by Deputy Prime Ministers Radmila Šekerinska and Bujar Osmani and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

Federica Mogherini congratulated PM Zaev on his recent election and successful formation of the new government, and exchanged views on the steps that country plans to undertake in the upcoming period.

High Representative Mogherini and Prime Minister Zaev agreed on the importance of unity and reconciliation in the country and the need to move beyond political and inter-ethnic divisions. Constructive and inclusive cooperation between government and opposition will be key for implementation of the Pržino agreement and the Urgent Reform Priorities, in resolving bilateral issues and in enhancing inter-ethnic relations.

HRVP Mogherini stressed the EU’s commitment to continue providing strong support and work together with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in order to help get the country back on the EU integration path.
