Owls are some of the most intriguing animals on Earth, and uncovering their secrets is going to be in the focus of bird watching for children in Niš.

Europe House Niš, in cooperation with the Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia, invites you to a unique educational event – “Owl Night”, taking place on 6 June from 17:00 to 21:00 at Niš Fortress (in front of Gallery 77). This event is part of EU Green Week 2025, which this year runs under the slogan “Circular Solutions for a Competitive Europe.”

During the event, ornithologists from the Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia will organise and lead educational sessions titled “The Enchanted Forest” and “Legends of the Guardians”. Through slide shows and owl calls, children and young people will learn about the appearance, sounds, and ecological importance of owls for the living world around us.

Through the owl diet analysis lab “Pellet Dissection”, children and youth will discover everything about what owls eat and how they influence the food chain in nature. All attendees will have the opportunity to experience the work of ornithologists in the field and learn new, meaningful lessons about owls and the world around us.

To ensure a safe and lasting habitat for owls at Niš Fortress, a workshop on building owl nesting boxes will also be held.

To round off this day dedicated to owls, ornithologists from the Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia will also lead ornithological walks under the title “Be an Ornithologist for a Day”, where participants will discover the rich bird life of the park and learn about the importance of bird biodiversity for our environment.

Throughout the event, in partnership with our collaborators from Deli Hub, all visitors will have the opportunity to take part in clay badge-making workshops.
