Serbia can count on the European Union financial assistance, as well as the EU Solidarity Fund assistance, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said at the international donor conference held in Belgrade.

Davenport said Serbia can count on IPA fund as well, or about EUR30 million for solving the most urgent problems.

There are the EU pre-accession instruments, the EU wishes to provide urgent and substantial assistance within these mechanisms. A short-term realisation is expected of around EUR30 million to meet the most urgent needs, he said.

As a candidate country that has already started accession talks, Serbia can obtain the access to EU Solidarity Fund as any member state, Davenport said, adding that the exact amount would be based on damage assessment and approved by the European Parliament and Council.
