Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Head of the Delegation of the European Union Ambassador Sem Fabrizi.

A statement released by the President’s Office reads that Ambassador Fabrizi announced that President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker would visit Belgrade on Monday as part of his Western Balkans tour, with a view to confirming the European perspective of the region put forward in the recently published Enlargement Strategy.

President Vucic described the President Juncker’s visit as an important event for Serbian citizens and a confirmation of Serbia being firmly on the European path. He said that the country was aware that no one can guarantee Serbia would join the EU in 2025, but went on to describe mentioning of the date as a strong motivation for the country and acknowledgement of the job Serbia has done well.

“Even though Serbia is faced with many challenges on the European path, we are ready to work hard to tackle with demanding tasks,” President Vucic said.

They also discussed the state of affairs and cooperation in the region, the latter being on the agenda of President Juncker’s visit as well. President Vucic reiterated his commitment to setting up the regional economic area which would serve as a foundation for swifter economic progress of the Western Balkans, reads the statement issued by the President’s Office.
