On June 2nd 2015, the representatives of the City of Šabac, the Commissariat for refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and Housing Center ceremonially signed up Contract on Cooperation for construction of prefabricated houses in Šabac.

Prefabricated houses will be constructed within the project “Support to the improvement of living conditions of forced migrants and closure of collective centers“, financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia from IPA 2012 pre-accession funds. The project aims at enhancing social inclusion of socially vulnerable persons and families of refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees based on the Readmission Agreement accommodated in Collective Center “Varna“ in Šabac.

For the purpose of constructing the prefabricated houses, the City of Šabac has provided 4 infrastructurally equipped land plots on a good-quality location in Šabac. The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration is coordinating the process of closing the Collective Center “Varna“. The project is implemented by NGO Housing Center, in partnership with Initiative for Development and Cooperation – IDC.
