For the third time, the EU Information Centre, EUNIC and Dom omladine Beograda organise European Film Festival, offering the public a wide range of contemporary feature and documentary films hailing from across The Old Continent. This year, the Festival theme is “In-Between-Land”.

Marking the tenth anniversary of the biggest EU enlargement, the Festival explores this particular enlargement’s impact on mental landscape of the continent united in respect and appreciation toward its cultural and natural diversity.

During the festival that takes place in Dom Omladine in Belgrade, a total of 30 feature and documentary films hailing from 22 EU Member States and Serbia will be shown, including the Oscar-winning foreign language film The Great Beauty (“La grande bellezza”), 2013 Cannes Golden Palm winner Blue Is the Warmest Colour, and BAFTA winner Philomena.

After the Film Festival in Belgrade, a selection of films will be shown in Novi Sad, Niš, Leskovac, Kragujevac, Čačak, Surdulica and a number of other cities throughout Serbia. This Festival is not only about bringing the best of the European film production to Serbia, but is  also about proving that visual arts in Serbia can compete on equal grounds with best  European creative achievements.

At the opening ceremony, which takes place on Friday 16th May 2014 at 20:00, the Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Ambassador Michael Davenport will address the invitees and the audience, followed by the showing of the Oscar-awarded Italian film The Great Beauty (La grande bellezza).
