Innovation for the Green Agenda in Serbia
The ‘Innovation for the Green Agenda in Serbia’ story series presents some of the finest ideas for the green transformation of the Serbian economy and society that have come to life owing to support from the European Union – from plastic-eating insects, using waste thermal water for heating, a gym made of driftwood from the Sava river, through to cosmetic products made from leftover food.
These innovations were developed by people from private and public companies, research and scientific institutions, local self-governments, and civil society organisation in Serbia.
The implementation of these ideas will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources, reusing waste to generate new products, improving air quality and preserving biodiversity, or simply put – implementing the Green Agenda.
You are looking at stories about some of the projects that were supported until now, carefully selected as the best of all proposals that were sent to four Public calls put out during 2022 within the ‘EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia’ initiative.
This initiative, technically supported by the European Union and conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden and the European Investment Bank (EIB), with additional funding provided by Governments of Sweden, Switzerland, and Serbia.
