The EU-funded assistance for flood relief continues as planned in order to help as many people from affected areas as possible to prepare for the forthcoming winter. In addition, the reconstruction of the lower level of Agricultural and Chemistry School in Obrenovac is successfully completed on Friday, 17 October 2014.
The delivery of raspberry seedlings to 10 agriculture households in Kosjeric will be conducted next week. A small municipality in West Serbia with about 12,000 inhabitants within the EU Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia will be supported in income generation recovery facilitated by Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. In addition to this, some spare parts for equipment and renovation of business facilities will also be provided.
Distribution of winter crop package started in Loznica, Paraćin, Varvarin, Ljubovija, Kosjerić, Bajina Bašta, Mali Zvornik, Obrenovac, Smederevska Palanka and Velika Plana. Each of 1,814 selected farming families in these municipalities receives 250 kg of winter wheat and 300 kg fertilizer.
The largest single distribution is conducted in Loznica, where 504 families will receive this kind of support from the European Union. In next 10 days winter wheat is to be sown, so that yields of winter wheat are collected in June -July 2015. Total of 4,427 farming families in 24 flood affected municipalities will receive winter wheat packages. This part of intervention is implemented by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The tendering procedures for the reconstruction of private houses and construction of new homes in most municipalities included in European Union Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia will be completed next week. The contracts with the construction companies which provided the best offer will be signed shortly, so that the works may commence by the end of October.
The reconstruction of the lower level of Agricultural and Chemistry School in Obrenovac is successfully completed on Friday, 17 October 2014. After the floods affected the school, the plastering, flooring, replacement of joinery, electrical and mechanical works were conducted. The European Union funded this reconstruction with 40,100 Euros. The school will be equipped shortly with necessary furniture and didactic equipment, while the flooring will be done in sports hall.
