With the support of the European Union in restoring living conditions to the households highly damaged by May 2014 floods, many affected families are overcoming their problem.

The Family Martinović in the Village of Trudelj, Gornji Milanovac now have new 80 square metre home, after their old house was  destroyed by the landslides during the May 2014 floods.

“I still cannot believe that my family now has the new home. Our new house is the most beautiful in this area. All the works were conducted fast and in high quality manner and we are really thankful to the European Union,” said Dejan Martinović, the son and the heir of Radoslav Martinović.

So far, 93 houses in Obrenovac, Krupanj, Svilajnac, Varvarin, Paraćin, Gornji Milanovac, Bajina Bašta, Šid, Malo Crniće, Valjevo, Osečina, Smederevo, Smederevska Palanka, Požega, Loznica, Ruma  and Mionica have been constructed, while 712 flood affected homes have been rehablitated in Obrenovac, Krupanj, Kraljevo, Lazarevac, Svilajnac, Trstenik, Varvarin, Valjevo, Mali Zvornik, Ljubovija, Šabac, Bajina Bašta, Šid, Loznica, Smederevska Palanka, Velika Plana, Čačak, Ub, Koceljeva, Jagodina and Paraćin.

The construction works are in the finishing stage on some 30 family houses. This is the part of private housing reconstruction process for the total of some 950 in 30 municipalities funded through the European Union Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia Programme which is well underway. Parallel to this, basic sets of furniture and home appliances are being deliviered to the flood affected families.

The distribution of barley, peas, red clover and Lucerne to more than 3,700 agriculture families will commence on 23 February 2015. In addition to this, another 3,700 farmers will receive maize seeds in March 2015. This will be the timely support for the spring cropping season, which will aim the largest group of agriculture families receiving support through the EU Assistance for Flood Relief Programme.
