Performances of both Serbian and European anthem and opening remarks made by Head of EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport, Head of Serbian EU Accession Negotiating Team Tanja Miscevic and Director of National Library of Serbia Laslo Blaskovic, marked the official opening of EU book stand at Belgrade International Book Fair.

Ambassador Davenport reminded that this was the fourth consecutive year that the EU Delegation to Serbia organised debates and presented publications on how the EU worked and Serbia-EU relations.

“We take particular pride in the brochure dedicated to negotiating chapters, published together with Tanja Miscevic and her excellent team,” Davenport said.

Tanja Miscevic said that she was very happy that the publication “35 Steps to EU” would be presented at the Fair, because the publication did not only provide contents of each of the negotiating chapters, but also an overview of what we could expect once the European standards would have been adopted.

Director of National Library of Serbia Laslo Blaskovic stressed the role of translators who “married different languages and cultures with one another and with the future.” Translation may be interpreted as giving blood to other authors, Blaskovic said at the opening ceremony.

Opening ceremony was also participated in by Edina Szvoren, Hungarian author, with her collection of stories There Is None, Nor Let There which won her 2015 European Prize Literature. Being a guest of EU Delegation to Serbia and EU Info Centre, Edina Szvoren will present her book, described by reviewers as “the drama in the minutiae of human relationships” with stories “full of dry humour” which “at the same time sizzle.”
