The Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn will be visiting Belgrade on Friday 9 – Saturday 10 September to meet with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and the new Serbian government. The objective of the visit is to discuss further steps on Serbia’s path towards EU accession and to express the EU’s strong support for Serbia’s reform agenda and EU integration process.

Ahead of the visit Commissioner Hahn said: “I look forward to meeting Prime Minister Vucic and the new Serbian government, which has expressed its commitment to continue the ambitious reform agenda and the process of EU integration. I wish to reassure you that Serbia has the support of the EU at every step of this way.”

With regard to priorities in the near future, Hahn added: “In the framework of the accession process, we will focus on working with the Serbian authorities on important topics such as strengthening the rule of law, regional cooperation and the process of normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. We want to offer support, both technical and financial, to continue the fiscal consolidation, foster economic growth and provide better opportunities for businesses, especially for young entrepreneurs and youth in general.”
