Diplomats for children is the name of the humanitarian football tournament, which will be held at Ada Ciganlija on Sunday.

The humanitarian diplomatic football tournament Diplomats for children has been organised since 2019, but its history dates back to 2017, when the first football tournament was organised by the Embassy of Slovakia. Due to the pandemic, the tournament is not taking place in 2020 and 2021. From 2022, the tournament is organised in cooperation with the EU Delegation in Serbia as part of the European Week of Sports. In 2023, the Olympic Committee of Serbia became one of the co-organisers.

The main element of this event is charity. All income collected from the registration fee and voluntary contributions this year will be given to the “NURDOR” association, which provides medical and psychological assistance to children suffering from cancer and their parents.

Teams made up of diplomatic representatives in Serbia, as well as international organisations, Serbian state institutions and other organisations operating in the field of sports and international relations, will compete for the commemorative trophy “Mihal Hrušik” – named after our colleague, the initiator and founder of the tournament, who died tragically last year in a sports accident. He was dedicated and very persistent to make this tournament a traditional meeting place for diplomats, athletes and people of goodwill united with the same desire to help.
