Forty librarians from across South East Serbia took part in seminar “Libraries as Key Source of Relevant Information about EU”, organised by EU Info Point Nis with the support from Delegation of European Union to Serbia and Serbian European Integration Office, at the oldest public library in Nis “Stevan Sremac”.

Manager of EU Delegation Dubravka Savic detailed the model of cooperation among libraries in Serbia, whereas Marina Rakic went on and presented Belgrade EU Info Centre and EUBOOKSHOP virtual library.

Deputy Manager of National Library of Serbia Tamara Butigan Vucaj said that due to cooperation project between National Library and EU Delegation, 25 libraries across Serbia now have the so called “EU shelves” where readers may find publications on EU.
Representative of Creative Europe Dimitrije Tadic called librarians to take part in that EU programme and promised they would receive assistance in finding partners for a possible participation in projects. He said that Serbia performed second best in applying for literary translations within Creative Europe.

Project Manager of IPA Serbia-Bulgaria cross-border programme Maja Jovanovic announced the latest call for proposals and called libraries to take part in the contest because they fulfilled criteria of being non-profit organisations.

Librarians were particularly interested in, and obtained relevant information on, receiving training on how to apply for European projects.
