„The world is a symbiotic living organism. Anything happens in one corner of the world affects another part. Global warming is taking its toll already, we see droughts and heat waves across the globe, and so everyone has a role to play to decrease Greenhouse gas emissions. We need to work together for actions to stop global warming and pollution“, says Ambassador of EU to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret.
Every year, the EU Green Week is an opportunity to debate European environmental policy with policy makers, leading environmentalists and stakeholders from Europe and beyond. This year’s edition focuses on the European Green Deal – a sustainable and transformative EU growth strategy – for Europe to use resources efficiently and become climate neutral by 2050.
The activities are implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of European Integration, local governments, the embassies of Sweden and France, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Swedish Development Agency (SIDA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), KFW Bank, the European Investment Bank and many others.
The European Union is the world leader in environmental protection. The EU supports Serbia on its path to a healthier environment. With over 400 million EUR in non-refundable grants invested in environmental protection and climate action in Serbia, the EU is the largest donor in this area in the country.
With EU’s financial support, Serbia is working to develop and implement plans for the strategic protection of environment—a sustainable system of environmental protection that creates healthier surroundings and raises the quality of life.
