Funded from the EU’s IPA funds with eight million euros, “Razvionica” project aims to enhance the professional development of teachers and update learning, thus enabling pupils to make a better use of their knowledge. Training for teachers will be implemented in more than 40 primary and secondary schools across Serbia and by September 2014, these schools will have been equipped with new teaching tools with the average value of 100.000 euros.

Experimental teaching at these schools implies the use of the most modern educational methods, in order to professionally develop teachers’ skills and train them to teach their pupils the applicable knowledge and not a mere memorisation. Apart from the teachers already involved in teaching, training is aimed at future teachers as well. The project envisions some 13.000 teachers to undergo the training that would enable them to apply the modern learning methodology and develop their teaching skills.

Since its beginning in June 2012, the project “Support human capital development and research – general education and human capital development” has trained some 4.000 teachers, including 1.300 mentors.

As expected by those in charge of project implementation, “Razvionica” will contribute not only to an overall rise in the level of knowledge, skills and competences within the society, as well as to human capital development in Serbia, but also to a general socio-economic development.

Experimental activities cover 10 percent of schools and 15 percent of teachers in Serbia and are planned to be subsequently embedded in entire first and second educational levels, meaning primary and general secondary education.

Project’s expert team is implementing all the activities in close cooperation with the Institute for advancement of education and upbringing and the Institute for education quality and evaluation, under the constant supervision of Ministry of education. This type of approach enables the viability of the project’s effects and further development within the domestic regulatory and institutional framework.
