Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport said that the EU supported reconstruction of Jevremovac Botanical Garden with €1.4 million.

We wanted a concert to take place right here, to show that in down-town Belgrade there is a wonderful, small, green oasis, to which we have grown close to, because we supported its reconstruction with a major donation of over €1.4 million, Davenport said addressing the guests before the classical music concert took place, organised on the occasion of visit by European Commissioner for Culture, Education, Youth and Sports Tibor Navracsics.

Davenport said the donation was part of a larger EU assistance package aimed at modernisation of higher education facilities infrastructure in Serbia, worth over €30 million.

Goal of the project was to help Serbia create better working and learning conditions, to make as many young people and researches as possible stay in Serbia and contribute to economic and scientific progress, Davenport said.

The also concert marked the first anniversary of Jevremovac Botanical Garden reconstruction.
