Company Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) Serbia has opened a new haemodialysis devices plant in Vrsac Technology Park, which is another good example how EU’s financial support to infrastructural projects boosts foreign investment and employment in Serbia.

The value of FMC investment in Vrsac amounts to 16 million euros. Project also envisages creation of 429 jobs, whereas long-term plans foresee the number of employees reaching 1150.

Vrsac Technology Park, six hectares of infrastructurally equipped space located between international railway Belgrade–Vrsac–Temisvar–Bucharest and international road connecting Serbian and Romanian capitals, was constructed thanks to EU, Serbian Telekom, Electric Power Industry of Serbia, USAID’s financial support, as well as funds provided by the Vojvodina Province and the Vrsac Municipality. A total investment in infrastructure exceeds 6 million euros.

EU granted 2,7 million euros for the construction of Park’s basic infrastructure. EU experts and engineers have worked on the construction of water supply, waste water and rainwater collection safety systems.

Each of the eight parcels found their respectful owners. Focus was on pharmaceutical industry. Parcels were bought by Officina Game East (manufacturer of pharmaceutical equipment), HiTeam (IT technologies), SensiLab (production of medicines and food supplements), Ave Pharmaceutical (medicine production), Esca Delight (food production), FormaPharm (consulting, engineering and construction works), Lamp East (pharmaceutical packaging) and Fresenius Medical Care Serbia (production of haemodialysis equipment and supplies).

>Lamp East and FormaPharm have already opened their plants, while Ave Pharmaceutical’s is constructed although not officially opened yet.

Headquarters of each of the companies is or will be located in Vrsac, thus making 80 per cent of income tax flow into municipal budget.

Through Romania-Serbia IPA cross-border project SMEs support by developing an e-business infrastructure in Timis County and the neighbour Serbian district, Vrsac Technology Park saw the construction of Business Incubator Centre, aimed to assist young entrepreneurs from Vrsac to start their businesses under privileged conditions.

EU support projects such as the construction of Technology Park so as to contribute to development of SMEs and job creation.
