Ambassador Fabrizi met today with Minister of European Integrations, Jadranka Joksimovic and Minister of Health, Zlatibor Loncar to discuss Serbian vaccination priorities and needs for further strengthening of medical capacities to fight the COVID pandemic.

Minister Jadranka Joksimović pointed out that the meeting analysed additional possibilities of transferring funds from the EU PRO + programme, which is used by the Ministry of European Integration, for the needs of procurement of medical equipment, refrigerators, deep-freezers, minivans for transport and distribution of vaccines in order to be ready for vaccination.

Minister Lončar pointed out that the corona virus attacks all European countries equally, so it is extremely important that we jointly, through cooperation and mutual support, respond to the epidemiological challenges of the time in which we live. The best answer is the vaccine, and Serbia was the first in the region to provide the first doses, and is just starting immunisation.

Ambassador Fabrizi and Ministers in the Government of the Republic of Serbia pointed out that EU and Serbia will continue to work closely together and agreed on urgent measures that need to be taken in Serbia’s COVID response, for which the European Union will provide direct emergency support, including for vaccines.

‘Ever since the outbreak of the COVID-19 the EU has been supporting Serbia to fight the pandemic, both financially and through emergency supplies and medical equipment. We are now at a critical juncture in the fight against the pandemics with the availability of vaccines and we need to stand together more than ever’, stated Ambassador Fabrizi.
