Be with us on Monday, September 18 from 5:30 p.m. at the first lecture in the autumn cycle of “The Green Corner of Knowledge”, jointly organised by the EU Info Point Niš and the Centre for the Promotion of Science Belgrade. The lecture “Adaptation of Cities to the Changed Climate and Natural Conditions – Contribution of Development and Research Projects to the Planning of the Line Park in Belgrade“ will be held by Ana Mitić-Radulović, President of the Board of Directors of CEUS (The Centre for Experiments and Urban Studies) in the premises of the EU Info Corner Niš (5, Vožda Karađorđa Street), and as part of marking this year’s European Mobility Week.
During the event, we will present current challenges in city planning in the context of an increasingly pronounced climate crisis and show how international development and research projects can contribute to changes of common practice.
The lecture will present the projects CLEVER Cities (financed through the Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research) and NBS EduWORLD (financed through the Horizon Europe Framework), as well as concrete proactive initiatives during the planning of the Line Park in Belgrade. A draft of the Guidelines for the creation of the Urban Greening Plans will be presented to the participants, and we will also focus on its connection with the creation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans in the context of the current European Mobility Week, which will be celebrated again this year from 16 to 22 September.
After studying architecture, urban development, development economics and international cooperation in Belgrade, Darmstadt and Rome, Ana Mitić-Radulović worked in the private sector as a consultant and designer, in the public sector as head of the department for strategic planning at the competent ministry, and she currently works for the United Nations Development Programme as a coordinator of projects in the field of circular economy.
Attendance to the lecture is free of charge on a first come, first served basis, and all interested parties are requested to fill in the registration form, no later than September 18 at 10 a.m.
ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR THE PROMOTION OF SCIENCE
The Centre for the Promotion of Science (in Serbian: CPN) is a public institution that deals with the promotion and popularisation of science and technology. The mission of CPN is to bridge the gap between science and society by gathering relevant actors and the general public in the process of research and innovation, and one of the important goals is to spread scientific literacy in the broadest layers of society. The Centre organises a large number of exhibitions, lectures, panel discussions and other interactive events on various topics, which are intended for all ages.
CPN is known for its international cooperation and in this respect is considered a regional leader in Southeast Europe. It is currently a partner in eight H2020 projects, one project of Creative Europe and the JRC, and four Erasmus+ projects, so it has participated in a total of 32 projects funded by the EU so far.
Every year, from September 16 to 22, European Mobility Week takes place, the European Commission’s flagship campaign to raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility.
During the week, nearly 3,000 cities and municipalities encourage behavioral changes in favor of active mobility, public transport and other clean, intelligent transport solutions by organizing awareness-raising activities and events with local stakeholders. In Serbia, seven cities joined the campaign.
