The Ambassador of the European Union in Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, said that agricultural practices are developing quite quickly, both in Europe and globally, towards a more sustainable use of resources and greener technologies, which re some of the main goals of the European Union. At the same time, the Ambassador pointed out that the EU is working to ensure the highest standards in terms of food safety, as well as in the field of protection of public health of people, animal health and planet welfare.
“In all these areas, the European Union has a lot to offer, and we are very glad that we are participating in the Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad as its main partner in 2024. At this year’s fair, the European Union will present the many opportunities it offers to farmers and agricultural holdings in Serbia, including opportunities through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance in Rural Development (IPARD)”, added Ambassador Giaufret.
With its modern concept, the Novi Sad Agricultural Fair encourages interstate and economic cooperation, integrates the improvement of knowledge, production and the development of science. In addition, it promotes the importance of innovation and represents a synthesis of experience and achievements in Serbian agriculture, it is a strong support for Serbian economy, and its contribution and importance is measured by the success of the exhibitors that they achieve under the roof of the Novi Sad Fair.
“Novi Sad was the European Capital of Culture and Youth Capital of Europe, and we can freely say that from today it is also the European Capital of Agriculture. Today is a big and important day at the Novi Sad Fair, because we will sign a partnership protocol with the EU Delegation regarding cooperation and presentation at the 91st International Agricultural Fair, which will be held in Novi Sad from May 18-23. The Novi Sad Fair, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, this year got the strongest and most important partner of the agricultural fair, the European Union. The European Union is the largest investors, the most important trade partner and the largest donor to Serbia. Having the EU as the fair partner is a great honour and privilege for us, but also a great obligation and responsibility to meet the high expectations that this partnership requires. I am sure that the presence of the EU at the International Agricultural Fair will contribute to an even greater interest of exhibitors to present their products at the fair, as well as that the number of visitors will be greater than 125,000, which is the number of visitors last year at the Agricultural Fair. This is a unique opportunity for exhibitors and visitors at the International Agricultural Fair to be educated and informed about all the criteria and benefits of cooperation with the EU in direct contact with EU representatives”, said the General Director of the Novi Sad Fair, Nikola Lovrić.
“As a socially responsible company, the Novi Sad Fair thinks globally, works locally, and wants to contribute to the success of the world’s specialised exhibition that will be held in Serbia – Belgrade in 2027. In this regard, we will try to organize every event, especially of international character, so that our guests, visitors and exhibitors will go back home satisfied, with the knowledge that they were and will always be welcome and dear guests. The slogan of the Novi Sad Fair is “A place where you gain an advantage”. With the support that we receive from the EU, the Novi Sad Fair will remain that way”, Lovrić added.
The Agricultural Fair, in the year in which Novi Sad Fair enters its second century of existence, will, as before, gather the most important companies and small producers from Serbia and the world in Novi Sad, in all known segments of the event. Numerous exhibitors from Serbia and abroad have already confirmed their participation, while a large number of countries have announced collective exhibitions. The most important agribusiness event in this part of Europe is strongly supported by different institutions – from the city, through the provincial and national-level institutions, sponsors and donors in the Gift game.
