European Commission made a decision on Serbia’s participation in the program of “Creative Europe”, which deals with helping the sectors of culture and creativity and is funded with €1,46 billions.
According to the European Commission decision made February 1st, Serbia will participate in the subprogram (alongside with nine more countries outside EU) which deals with culture, on the already opened call for competitors. Permission to participate in the program is still being awaited by the countries such as Switzerland, Israel and Morocco.
New European Commission program, “Creative Europe” 2014-2020 for aiding the sectors of culture and creativity, is replacing the “Culture Program” 2007-2013 in which Serbia also participated. The budget mentioned is about the period 2014-2020 and is intended to promote artists, culture professionals, as well as organizations which deal with Performing and Visual Arts, cinematography, music, cultural heritage and the development of industry of video games.
“Creative Europe’s” culture subprogram in which Serbia has the right to participate, includes for contests: European cooperation projects, European Platforms, European Networks and Literary Translation projects.
The Ministry of Culture and Information provided funding for creative individuals and Serbian artists’ participation in the program as well as creative Europe Desk, which is headed by Ministry’s Counselor, Dimitrije Tadić. The role of the Desk is technical support for applicants from Serbia to enroll, as well as financial aid for the successful projects in the 2014 contests.
