Besides meetings with Serbian authorities, a hearing will take place to debate with Serbian civil society organisations.

Following on the opening of EU accession negotiations, three representatives of the EESC, the EU institution representing organised civil society at EU level, will visit Serbia on 30-31st January 2014.

Besides meetings with Serbian authorities, a hearing will take place to debate with Serbian civil society organisations.

The objectives of EESC’s study visit are to:

  • inform Serbian civil society organisations on the challenges and opportunities ahead of them during the accession negotiations.
  • spread information on the upcoming set-up of an EU-Serbia Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee, joint body which will monitor the accession process from a civil society perspective.
  • voice the concerns of Serbian civil society to the Serbian authorities.
