Is your organisation/institution involved in Green Deal/Agenda issues? Are you organising events/workshops/exhibitions/visibility activities… with a focus on green policies and issues? If yes – this can interest you.

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment is launching a call for Partner Events to be organised around Europe and beyond during EU Green Week, from Monday 30 May to Sunday 5 June 2022.

Any organisation can take part, for instance: municipal authorities, authorities in charge of the environment, businesses, associations, private companies, NGOs, research institutes, universities and technical colleges, media, groups of citizens, youth groups, stakeholders in other sectors (biodiversity, nature, water, air quality, tourism, education, agriculture, transport, sustainable business), and so on.

We are looking for Partner Events that can cover themes related to the European Green Deal. These events may be new or recurring initiatives and may be part of other events that have already been planned. Partner Events can highlight any aspect of the EU Green Deal, for instance, ensuring a just transition to zero-emission technologies. More broadly, the Green Deal theme includes a range of possibilities with links to numerous topics and sectors, including industry and new technologies, chemicals, energy, mobility, agriculture, fisheries, biodiversity, climate, and so forth.

Partners Events can be organised in person, online or as hybrid events with in-person and digital elements. Whatever the format, Partner Events should be organised, ideally, in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.

Partner Events are not bound to any format or style – it is up to their organisers to decide what suits their target audience best. The European Commission welcomes workshops, webinars, public debates, guided walks, awareness-raising events, exhibitions, social club activities as well as other possible set-ups.

Topics

Partner Events must be related to this year’s theme, EU Green Deal – Make It Real, which covers a wide range of topics and sectors, from industry and new technologies to biodiversity and climate change.

The main idea behind this is to raise awareness and involvement among a maximum number of stakeholders and anyone interested in environmental protection at local, regional and national levels.

Guidelines

Taking part in EU Green Week is an excellent way to show how civil society and other stakeholders are playing an active role in furthering Europe’s transition to a greener future. In addition, Partner Event organisers can benefit from enhanced visibility through exposure on the European Commission’s social media channels, using a tailor-made EU Green Week 2022 digital toolkit and other incentives.

It is important to remember that the European Commission maintains rigorous standards against greenwashing. Any event that is deemed to promote greenwashing will not be approved for partnership and promotion. The same applies to any events that give misleading information or a false impression of the extent to which products or services are environmentally sound. Moreover, Partner Events must not serve as a platform for commercial or profit-oriented purposes.
