The construction of the new, modern and energy efficient facility was financed by the European Union in the value of over 13 million euros, while the costs of its equipment will be borne by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia.

“I am glad to have the opportunity to once again witness the activities carried out by the Ministry of Justice in order to further improve the work of our judiciary, with the support of partners from the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and the city of Novi Sad,” said Justice Minister Maja Popovic. foundation stone.

During the construction of the new building, care will be taken to preserve the existing greenery, and in cooperation with the EU, the planting of new trees is planned in order to preserve the quality of life of the inhabitants of this part of the city, announced Mayor Vučević.

The rule of law is the foundation of the legal framework of the European Union, and plays a central role in the promotion of fundamental rights and values. It has a decisive effect on the lives of all people and is applied at all levels of government. In its efforts to promote and strengthen the rule of law, the EU is actively seeking partners both among the Member States and among the countries in the accession process.

Currently, nineteen projects in the field of rule of law are being implemented in Serbia, which are divided into several subsectors: justice, fundamental rights, media, and the fight against corruption and money laundering. The EU also provides ongoing support through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), as well as support to civil society organisations and the media. Projects in this area are focused on reform, ie. building and strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, judicial bodies, the media, penitentiary institutions and other institutions.
